How precision and seriousness has ruined science teaching and learning!
This is one of the most important talks I’ve seen on TED, and it is just so important to get this message across to not only teachers, but all science educators, media, anyone who talks about science. Because if we have the fundamental understanding of these concepts, we can read those stupid “Magic pill cures cancer!” articles and think, then why hasn’t this been accepted more? What could be wrong with this? This is just as important in other disciplines, and in all media ever, but being a science major, I know how misunderstood science is.
Think about how learning could change if students just went to class, came out understanding a concept, and found it cool enough to look up videos about it to learn more! Instead of them not understanding anything, and having to go on the Internet just to learn something they were already supposed to have learnt through the textbook, or the lesson itself.
